How do families use AI assistants to find home care?
Families use AI assistants the way they would ask a well-informed friend. They describe the situation in full and ask what to do next: “My dad has early dementia, lives alone in Tucson and keeps missing his medication. What are our options for help at home?” The assistant replies with care types, questions to ask and sometimes named agencies. The agencies it names are the ones it can find, read and trust.
The habit is real and growing for health questions in general. A KFF poll published in June 2026 found that 29% of US adults use AI tools or chatbots such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini or Claude for health information and advice at least monthly, up from 17% in June 2024. An earlier KFF poll from March 2026 put the share who had used an AI chatbot for health information in the past year at 32%.
Those figures cover health information broadly, not hiring a home care agency. We have not found reliable public data on how many home care inquiries start in an AI assistant, so we measure what matters to you instead: whether your agency shows up for your families' questions.
